Acura's Tech Vision Glossary Part 3

Thanks to content provided by http://www.acura.com/, we're continuing our 3-part mini-series this week to help familiarize our audience with Acura's amazing technology. We bring you the 3rd and final part of our series... enjoy!

GPS - Linked, Solar-Sensing Climate Control System

Even though the sun is 93 million miles away from Earth, the system knows its exact locaton inside the cabin. It continually adjusts and monitors the temperature, so you and your passenger can dwell in your own personal micro-climates.

Variable Flow Turbo

When it comes to acceleration, we all want it now. And while most turbochargers keep you waiting for their rotors to come upto speed, the Acura Variable Flow Turbo spins its rotors quickly at all times, so its ready to deliver power on demand.

Active Damper System

Since highway cruising and canyon carving require different suspension tuning, most luxury vehicles can't cater to both as well as they should. But the Active Damper System can vary the shocks from soft to firm in a fraction of a second.

Vehicle Stability Assist

When a sweeping curve suddenly becomes a tight one, Vehicle Stability Assist steps in to help you keep on track. You'll rarely have to worry about understeer and oversteer because it applies the brakes to each wheel individually for stability. It may happen without you knowing, so the VSA has a warning light to remind you it has your back.

Advanced Compatibility Engineering

An Acura provides good karma for its passengers by helping to protect them in the event of a possible frontal collision. The front body structure helps disperse impact energy across a wide area before it gets to the cabin.

So there you have it... Acura's breakthrough technology guide to help you understand the science of development that goes into each Acura vehicle. Just to note, some of these available technology features vary from model to model. As Acura continues to push the envelope of technology, power, safety, and design into the future, stay in touch for some of the breakthroughs that are just right around the corner...

Secrets are hard to Keep! The Acura ZDX Prototype is Debuted

A prototype of the provocative Acura ZDX luxury four-door sports coupe made its world debut at the New York International Auto Show. The production version is scheduled to go on sale in Fall of 2009. The ZDX features stunning coupe-like styling with the added benefit of a commanding presence and flexible utility.

With its sensuous curves, sharply raked roofline and bold fender flares, the ZDX fuses the distinction between coupe, sedan and sport utility vehicle. The all-glass tailgate opens wide to reveal a highly functional cargo space with integrated under-floor storage. The prototype is finished off with stylish dual chrome exhaust outlets and 9-spoke machined wheels fitted with 20-inch Michelin tires.

Inside, the ZDX engulfs modern luxury while focusing on pampering the front passengers. The cabin is enveloped in leather, which gives the interior a luxurious and inviting feel. The hand-stitched leather dash and instrument panel sweep down to form a dual cockpit layout, creating a personal and intimate experience for the front seat occupants. A black monochromatic center stack leads to the textured metallic center console, which complements the black and pearl white leather trim. The leather wrapped steering wheel provides ample grip and is framed by racing-inspired paddle shifters for the ultimate in driver control. The cabin is enclosed by a panoramic glass roof which runs the entire length of the vehicle, providing occupants with a breathtaking view of the world around them.

The production ZDX will offers the latest advancements in performance, technology and safety. The ZDX will deliver sports sedan performance on the road with its powerful V-6 engine mated to an all-new, smooth shifting 6-speed automatic transmission. The potent powertrain will be coupled with Acura's exclusive Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD) system, giving the ZDX outstanding handling and cornering capabilities in all-weather conditions.

The ZDX will be available with the latest in enhanced technologies and safety features including an all-new blind spot information system, which will help drivers change lanes more confidently. A new multi-view rear camera incorporates added enhancements of both a wide angle and top down view. Signature technologies like the Acura Navigation System with Voice Recognition, Real-Time Traffic and Weather, Acura/ELS Surround premium audio system and Bluetooth connectivity will also be available on the new model.

The ZDX represents the next step for Acura in its advancement to becoming one of the top luxury brands for the future ahead.

A Look Into the Future

One of the most intriguing aspects of the auto industry is to get a little sneak preview of what the future is going to unveil. Acura's been planning to give the customers exactly what they've been waiting for!

We can tell you that this summer, Acura will introduce a TSX performance output like never before. The 2010 TSX V6 is coming soon! The nimble sports-sedan will power an impressive 280 hp, 3.5- liter VTEC V6 engine for breathtaking acceleration.

Additionally, 18-in., split five-spoke aluminum alloy wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot all-season tires, will distinguish the TSX V-6 model from the four-cylinder variant, as well as providing sharper turn-in and crisper handling. The 2010 TSX will be three inches wider in width, 2.5 inches longer in length than in its sibling 4-Cylinder TSX. Inside the TSX V-6, luxury amenities are covered in every detail and the standard equipment list is significant. A leather-upholstered interior, power moonroof, automatic climate control, premium seven-speaker sound system, Bluetooth, and auxiliary jack music interface are all no-cost items on the spec sheet. As with the base model car, stepping up to the Acuralink navigation system with rear-view camera and Acura/ELS Surrround premium stereo will require the optional Technology Package.

Stay tuned in with Acura of Concord for more details and information on the 2010 Acura TSX V6 release date. And also, check in to see a glimpse of what Acura's Future may be bringing you real soon... a Coupe? a new NSX? an Advanced Diesel model? you'll just have to wait and see what's next!
