Acura's Tech Vision Glossary Part 1

VTEC

In your daily routine, you breathe through your nose. When you exert yourself, you breathe through your mouth. VTEC gives you more power on demand by using this same principal. Valves open longer and wider, taking in more air when the engine is working harder. A VTEC variation known as i-VTEC on 4-cylinder engines also adjusts valve timing across the rev range. For both systems, the result is greater acceleration - without the panting.

Active Sound Control

This cunning way of reducing cabin noise actually amps up the solitude. Opposing sound frequencies are created by the audio system, which cancel out all extraneous noise. This lowers the ambient sound levels by almost 10 decibels so the silence comes through loud and clear.

Active Front Lighting System

If there's something out there, these private eyes will be the first to find the evidence. Steer to the right, and the right headlight automatically pivots in the direction of your turn, illuminating where you're heading - not just what's in front of you.

Bluetooth HandsFree Link

Not only can you talk on the phone while your hands are on the wheel, you can call up to 50 friends in your HandsFreeLink phonebook and hardly even lift a finger. With voice command actviation, simply say your friend's name and the system dials the number for you.

Collision Mitigation Braking System

We've all succumbed to a daydream or two while driving. Fortunately, the system can sense if a frontal collision is likely and alerts you. If an impact seems imminent, and no action has been taken by the driver, the front belts tighten and brakes are applied automatically to reduce impact speed.
